Senegal: Total of 26 People Killed After a Shipwreck

Local media detail that the boat had only been four kilometers at the time of the incident.
The Senegalese Navy, in a statement published on Tuesday, noted that the number of dead after last Sunday’s shipwreck increased to 26, after 17 more bodies were rescued.

“In total 26 bodies were recovered from this shipwreck», including the nine already recovered since Sunday”, indicates the balance of the maritime body.
Shipwreck is one of the incidents that frequently occur on the Atlantic migration route.
Migrants leave from West Africa to the Canary Islands, and is considered one of the deadliest routes in the world.
This time, the boat was transporting more than 100 migrants from the Senegalese city of Mbour.
The state-owned radio station Radio Televisión Senegalesa also reports that the ship had travelled only four kilometres (km).
The 17 rescued were the result of rescue work that, according to the Navy, was carried out using three ships and a Spanish aircraft.
